It has never been so easy to travel to Latvia as it is today! Since Latvia joined the European Union there is no visa restrictions anymore! If You are a EU Citezen, all You need is an ID card in order to enter Latvia. If You are a citizen of European Economic Zone then You have to have a passport. It is possible to stay in Riga for 90 days without any visas! However, if You decide to prolong Your stay, then You have to apply for a residence permit in the Department of Citizenship. 

     

If You are a citizen of Non-EU/EEZ Countries, such as: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, The Holy See , United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela, You DO NOT need a visa. However, if You are not a citizen, but a permanent resident (posses a residence permit), You DO need a visa in order to travel to Latvia.
