GETTING AROUND IN RIGA

Arriving in Riga. If You arrived to Riga’s airport, then it probably is useful for You to know that the airpot is about 10 km from Riga. It is possible to get to the Center of Riga by bus No.22 or No.22a. The trip will take about 25-30 minutes and costs 0.20 Ls (the bus No.22) or 0.25 Ls (the bus No.22a). The bus leaves the bus station every 30-35 minutes. It is also possible for You to take a taxi, which will take about 15-20 minutes. The price for the taxi depends. 
Public transport. The public transport system consists of buses, trams and trolley busses. The public transport works daily from 05:30 a.m. until 00:30 a.m.. However, some of the transport rutes stop their work at 22:30 p.m. It is possible to buy a ticket for using the needed transport inside the bus/tram/trolley bus from a fare collector, costing 0.20 Ls (or 0.25 Ls if You take an express-bus).

If You need any additional information, You are welcome to visit a Tourist Information Center at the House of Blackheads (Melngalvju Nams) – Ratslaukums 6 (from 10:00 till 19:00). 
Public Phones. In case Your mobile phone do not work in Riga, it is possible to use the public phones. Most public phones accept special phonecards (TELEKARTE), accessible in any stands or newsstands. They cost 2, 3, 5 or 10 Ls. In some public phones simple coins are used. 
Information services. If You have any question and You have no-one nearby to ask, all You have to do is dial 118 or 117 (a call costs about 0,10 Ls + duration of the call itself). A helpful operator who speaks Latvian, Russian and English with be glad to answer to ANY of Your questions.
